Bultak
Children discover the world as a surface that play can change, and build new structures on top of it. As Kinetik İşler Kolektifi (KİK), we turn that state of physical intervention into a systematic material investigation.
At the centre of the space are three pits. Inside them sit mechanical figures that run continuously. The system intervenes directly in the clay: it breaks the surface, splashes it, and shapes it again and again.
The moment the mathematical order of the machine strikes the random physical structure of the clay, play becomes a form of production in its own right. The system makes visible how the unpredictable movements of childhood games rebuild the physical world.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
“Bultak” is a site-specific installation drawn from the ways children transform the world through play. The three pits at the centre of the work become production grounds that intervene directly in the clay by means of continuously running mechanical figures.
The system breaks the surface of the clay, splashes it and reshapes it, creating a constant tension between mechanical order and the chance behaviour of the material. When the mathematical workings of the machine meet the physical, unpredictable nature of clay, play becomes a form of production in its own right.
Bringing together timber, motors, wire, paper, 3D models and basins, the installation carries the unpredictable movements of childhood games onto the plane of material research. The shifting marks left on the clay make visible that the physical world can always be rebuilt.
“Bultak” offers an experimental construction that invites the viewer to think around intervention, repetition, chance and transformation.
